Why switch to deregulated energy?

The purpose of a deregulated energy system is to help customers save money by giving them options for their energy supplier. New Hampshire’s state legislature deregulated the energy market by taking the monopoly away from the local utility companies and opening the market up to national, trusted retail suppliers. Retail suppliers offer a range of plans and products, such as:

  • Fixed-rate plans
  • Variable-rate plans
  • Green or renewable energy sourcing
  • Home services

Who delivers my electricity?

New Hampshire’s utility customers and deregulated energy customers will receive the same high level of service and electricity delivery for their homes or businesses. The only difference deregulated energy customers will experience is the rate they pay for their monthly energy supply – this is the rate that you signed up for with your retail supplier.

Once you’ve picked a deregulated energy plan from Choose Energy, your new supplier will contact your local utility to set up your service. During this time, you should not experience any interruptions to your power delivery; if you do experience a power outage or other emergency, contact your utility directly
