New Leaf Energy is a supplier of renewable energy options in Texas and operates within the family of Direct Energy companies. Since 2012, many customers searching for green energy supply plans in a number of deregulated energy markets in Texas have turned to New Leaf Energy.

However, Direct Energy has announced that it will no longer offer New Leaf Energy supply plans to new customers. Those customers who are already under contract with the company will continue to be so until the end of their term, but Direct Energy has discontinued its line of products under the New Leaf Energy brand.

In an effort to pursue additional alternative energy options for its residential customers, Direct Energy purchased the solar energy company Astrum Solar in July 2014, and will continue to sell green energy plans under its own brand and that of its subsidiary Bounce Energy. If you live in a deregulated energy market and are interested in learning about going green in your home or business, consider looking into options available from Bounce Energy or Direct Energy in Texas.

What does it mean to go green?

There are more ways to be greener in your everyday life than just recycling and taking shorter showers. You can have a bigger impact on the environment and leave behind a smaller carbon footprint by purchasing a green energy plan and pushing clean forms of energy into the market. The most common types of renewable sources are wind energy and solar energy, both of which have zero emissions as opposed to the high amounts of pollution generated by traditional brown forms of energy such as the burning of fossil fuels.

A majority of the electricity suppliers today offer green energy options along with the standard fixed- and variable-rate supply plans, allowing companies to purchase renewable energy credits (RECs) on your behalf that offset a portion of the brown energy that enters the market with green energy from renewable sources such as wind energy.
