About Shell Energy
Shell energy is an energy provider in Texas with a focus on renewable and solar energy. Though Shell Energy is new to the Texas energy market as of 2022, the business is an established entity in the state as the parent company of Pulse Power. Shell Energy is a great choice for Texans passionate about green energy because the company offers specialized plans for residents with solar panels on their homes and free energy hours for electric vehicle charging.
Shell Energy plans
Shell Energy provides fixed-rate plans backed by 100% renewable energy in term lengths of 12, 24, 36, and 60 months. Plans have early termination fees (ETFs) that range from $20 to $149. Shell Energy plans do not have a base charge fee; however, some plans have a $7.95 fee if monthly energy usage is below 500 kWh.
Like all energy providers in Texas, transmission and distribution charges (TDU) will affect the monthly electricity bill. The local utility sets TDU charges, so Shell Energy does not control those charges. Discover Shell Energy’s flagship energy plans in more detail below.
Shell Energy Fixed Renewable 12, 24, or 36 months
The Shell Energy Fixed Renewable plan is available as a 12, 24, or 36-month term. This fixed-rate energy plan is backed by 100% renewable energy via the use of Renewable Energy Credits (RECs). RECs are portions of renewable energy that Shell Energy purchases to equal the amount of energy used. The ETF for the Shell Energy Fixed Renewable plan is $20 for each remaining month of the agreement.
Shell Energy Solar Buyback 24 or 60 months
The Solar Buyback plan is only for residents with solar panels on their homes. Solar systems of any size can benefit from this plan by earning monthly bill credits for excess solar energy generated to the power grid. Solar owners with solar batteries are well-equipped to save money on this plan, too. This fixed-rate plan is available in a 24 or 60-month term and has an ETF of $149.
Shell Energy EV Free Charging Plan 12 or 24 months
Electric vehicle owners can charge their vehicles for free from 12 a.m. to 3 a.m. daily, in addition to locking in the rate for 12 or 24 months. This plan is backed by 100% renewable energy and has an ETF of $149.

SaveOnEnergy’s tips for easy electricity service setup
- Don’t forget to read your plan’s Electricity Facts Label before signing up. It contains important information including:
- Price per kilowatt-hour based on usage
- % renewable energy sourcing
- Early termination fees
- Enjoy hassle-free supplier setup. Once your order has been confirmed, your new supplier will set up service with your utility, or transmission and distribution service provider (TDSP) – but don’t worry, there shouldn’t be any interruption to your power during the switch.
- Understanding your electricity bill. Your local TDSP will still deliver your electricity and maintain electric infrastructure including meters and power lines. Your utility fees can be found as TDU or TDSP charges on your monthly bill. They are independent of your supplier rate.
How to move or transfer service with Shell Energy

Shell Energy electric rates in my area
