Power up with Columbia Gas of Ohio
Columbia Gas of Ohio is one of the seven natural gas distribution brands of NiSource Inc. The utility provides gas supply to 1.4 million residential, commercial and industrial consumers. It is the largest natural gas utility in Ohio, and therefore is required to maintain a majority of gas lines in the state.
One of this utility’s largest initiatives is infrastructure investment projects. Throughout Ohio, the utility is upgrading gas lines and contributing to job growth in areas where projects are located. The utility is funding growth with a $1.55 million grant to promote economic development within its 25,400 square mile service area.
Get connected with Columbia Gas of Pennsylvania
Just like Ohio, Columbia Gas of Pennsylvania operates as a company of NiSource Inc. This utility has approximately 423,000 industrial, commercial and residential customers receiving natural gas supply across 450 communities, throughout 26 counties.
The Pennsylvania utility works with organizations within the state and provides education to local volunteer fire departments. The Safety School program is a two-hour session that provides volunteer firefighters with a question-and-answer competition, safety videos and group discussions around extinguishing natural gas-related fires.
Not only does the utility invest in local fire departments, it also supports the state’s aging population with grants and assistance programs. Its grants provide natural gas supply to senior citizens who are in need. Pennsylvania nonprofits can apply via an application and must operate within the utility’s service area.
